I spoke to 5 Italians, 1 German and 1 Japanese who had also responded to Lee's advert of "immediate start for work" none of which had started work since their arrival, and who had no more information than me. I also spoke to the Korean workers there, who told me they worked 8 hours to 12 hours for very little pay. One guy received $53 for 8 hours!! ABSOLUTE SCAM. Many of the Asians had been promised work of 5 to 7 days but had spent 2 whole weeks with no more than 6 hours work over the 14 days.

The hostel also charges $7 a day to get to the farm. They also charge $5 when they change your bed linen. There is no free wifi available either, it costs money per hour to use.

The building seems old and cold. The staff's English is unclear and rather basic. Getting basic information out of them was a struggle.

Big Foot Backpackers put adverts online for immediate work for second year visa. You arrive to find there is no work available. They charge $7 a day to get to the farm (if you do eventually get any work). The rooms have no air con. Dark horrible rooms. Filthy hostel. No hot water in girls bathroom. They give you less payment than is legal for your working hours, so you can only afford your rent back in the hostel and basic food. Everyone there is miserable and have been trapped.

If you find new job that is not provided by them, you will kick out from there.

I responded to an advert online for a job with an immediate start. Lee told me to arrive as soon as possible, to begin work the next day. I arranged with Lee to arrive on Tuesday afternoon and to start work on Wednesday morning.

When I arrived he said first pay the rent for the week which I did. Then I asked what time I would start working the next day and he said there was no work, but maybe Thursday. The next day, I had to go and ask Lee about the job I had been promised and he said again, no work but maybe Friday. On Friday he told me there was no work, maybe Tuesday of the following week.

Horrific few days spent there. Absolute scam. Should be shut down and the farmer and owner named and shamed.

When asking about work they make it clear that it is only available when checking into the hostel. When I asked how much was paid, it was obvious that it was extremely little and would be a struggle to cover the rent.
